1. Participation & Preparedness

The studio reserves the right, at the sole discretion of Lené Nel, to determine a dancer’s readiness for examinations, competitions, concerts, workshops, or public performances.

A dancer may be withdrawn from any event if they are inadequately prepared due to poor attendance, lack of commitment, or technical concerns.

2. Tuition Fees & Account Standing

  • If tuition fees are in arrears, dancers may NOT be entered for examinations or competitions.
  • All fees paid are allocated to outstanding class fees first.
  • Continued non-payment may result in temporary suspension from classes and, if unresolved, removal from the studio.

3. Additional Event Fees

  • Fees for examinations, competitions, workshops, concerts, costumes, studio wear, or any additional events are NOT included in monthly class fees.
  • These fees are billed separately and must be paid by the specified deadlines.

4. Refunds & Withdrawals

  • All fees for exams, competitions, workshops, concerts, registrations, and choreography are strictly non-refundable.
  • This applies whether a dancer withdraws voluntarily, becomes unable to participate, or is withdrawn by the studio for ANY reason, including readiness, behaviour, or account arrears.
  • Competition scratch fees apply if a dancer withdraws after entries have been submitted.

5. Choreography Usage

All choreography used for competitions must be booked, approved, and arranged through Draai Dans Akademie or a DRAAI-associated choreographer.

Unapproved use of studio choreography in any competition or public performance may result in immediate dismissal.

6. Media Release

By enrolling, parents/guardians/students give permission for the studio to use photographs and videos taken during classes, rehearsals, competitions, assessments, performances, or events for promotional purposes (social media, website, marketing, news).

A parent may opt out in writing.

7. Risk & Liability Waiver

Dance training involves physical risk. While all reasonable safety measures are taken, Draai Dans Akademie and Lené Nel accept no responsibility for injury, illness, accident, loss, damage, or death during any studio-related activity.

By enrolling, parents/students agree to release and indemnify the studio and its staff from all claims.

8. Medical Consent

In the event of a medical emergency where the parent/guardian cannot be reached, the studio has permission to seek necessary medical treatment. All medical expenses remain the responsibility of the parent/guardian.

9. Code of Conduct

All students must:

  • Show respect toward teachers and fellow dancers

  • Dancers with inconsistent attendance may be restricted from participating in events or progressing to higher levels.

11. Competition Requirements
